MNSS PGA GOLFERS JOHN COOK AND JOHN MALLINGER BOTH SCORE WINS IN TOURNAMENT PLAY OVER THE SEASON ENDING WEEKENDS
In the last weeks of the PGA Champions Tour, The Sports Syndicate's golfer John Cook won the Champions Tour's season-ending Charles Schwab Cup Championship. Cook shot a 4-under 67 in steady drizzle, holing a 15-foot par putt on the 18th hole for his fifth career title. Cook began the day a shot behind, but birdied two of the first three holes to take the lead for good. Cook finished at 17 under and earned $440,000 for his fifth career victory. To follow up his Championship Cup win, John Cook and partner Sergio Garcia held onto their lead to win the Gary Player Invitational by shooting a final round seven under par 66. Teeing off last, the pair got off to the perfect start with a birdie on the first hole thanks to a well-struck second shot by Cook. Their two round total of 14 under par was one shot ahead in the end for the win. Also in the same weekend, The Sports Syndicate's PGA Tour golfer John Mallinger won the Pebble Beach Invitational by birdieing four of the last six holes for a 4-under 68 and a two-stroke victory over 2nd place. Mallinger, who also led after the second and third rounds, had eight birdies, two bogeys and a double bogey in the final round played in intermittent rain. For the win, Mallinger made a 25-foot birdie putt on No. 18 to finish at 15-under in the event at 273 and earned $60,000 in the $300,000 tournament.
